Arrival!!

Today I arrived in Norwich, England! I left Dallas, Texas at 5:30pm (11:30pm England time). The flight was great - even had an open seat beside me so I could stretch! Plus they had free food and drinks. We even landed early. Then I caught a train into London so that I could register with the General Medical Council so that I can work here. Dragging all my luggage through the train stations is quite interesting, considering they don't seem to have heard of elevators or escalators, so there is a lot of up and down flights of stairs with the 50lb suitcase. My arms are all bruised and scratched - looks like someone has been hitting me! One of the tube workers commented that I had a "copious" amount of luggage (funny way they put things!) Then I made my way through 3 more train transfers to get to Norwich. Chad, Julie and their 3 boys are still here until tomorrow morning, so it was good to see them before they leave. The weather today was perfect - in the 70s, sunny - very pleasant. The flat is located in a location where you can walk to many stores and locations. I haven't explored much, but did enjoy just getting out and walking. Tomorrow morning I get up early to catch a flight to Edinburgh and Scotland. I am a bit nervous about driving - I will be driving to the airport and then renting a car once I am there. I will let you know how it goes.

Photo Testing

I am practicing loading photos. This is a picture of my brand new computer that I bought to bring over with me - I am very excited by how small it is. Ok, yes, I am a geek!

Preparation

It is less than 2 weeks until I leave for my big trip to England and there are lots of preparations underway. I am still waiting until all of my paperwork - work permits, visa, etc. are finalized. I am trying also to figure out how to fit all of my favorite clothes (and shoes!) into what now seems like an itsy bitsy bag. Although I initially didn't plan on bringing much with me, now it seems like there are more and more things that get tossed into the 'packing pile'. My parents are coming in 2 days to help clean up the house and sadly, take my beloved Maxx away with them. He is my cute black lab that I have had for 4 years, but will not be coming with me to England. So, lots to do and to plan for in the next week and a half. It is getting pretty exciting thinking of what is to come!
